ROBIN HOOD

A TOWN, A FOREST, A HERO…

Locksley City has been on a downward spiral since the last car plant closed. Schools and hospitals are falling apart, abandoned houses get trashed by vandals and the Police Department is controlled by local gangster, Guy Gisborne.

When Robin Hood’s dad speaks out against corruption, he’s framed for a robbery and thrown in jail.

Twelve-year-old Robin finds himself on the run. The only place to hide is Sherwood Forest, which stretches hundreds of kilometers, from Lake Victoria to the Eastern Delta. It’s a dangerous place, where the bears and snakes are almost as scary as the human population of bandits, terrorists, cultists and biker gangs.

Robin wants revenge on the people who threw his dad in jail. But first, he must learn to survive in the forest.

AUTHOR COMMENT

I’ve always enjoyed writing books set in the present day and rooted in reality and my version of Robin Hood is as modern and real as the bands in Rock War or the agents in CHERUB!

He lives in the present day, and besides being an ace shot with his carbon fiber bow and titanium tipped arrows, Robin can hack computers and escape using his parkour skills. His enemies are modern too: corrupt cops, crooked politicians and greedy billionaires.

I hope you enjoy reading it!

INTRODUCING

MEET THE GANG!

ROBIN HOOD - The Hero
Since first appearing in 12th century English folk tales, Robin Hood has featured in Shakespeare, DC Comics and Monty Python, and been portrayed by Errol Flynn, Frank Sinatra and The Muppets. Now Robert Muchamore has re-imagined Robin as a twelve-year-old, living in the roaring 2020s.

Pint sized and fast on his feet, Robin can shoot arrows into a bullseye from fifty meters, pull off daring parkour moves and hack the ATM at your local gas station.

SHERIFF MARJORIE KOVACEVIC - The Baddie
Some say Marjorie rigged the election that won her an unprecedented fourth term as Sheriff of Nottingham. She’s grown rich from the billion-pound deal that turned Sherwood Castle into a luxury golf resort and a privatisation that handed control of the vast forest to King Corporation.

Sheriff Marjorie’s public image is a no-nonsense politician, determined to slash costs, crime and immigration. But deep in the forest, her private security teams ruthlessly crush anyone who stands in the way of her moneymaking schemes.

MARION MAID - The Sidekick
Twelve-year-old Marion has an animal rights activist mother, while her dad is the grizzled leader of a biker gang.

After living her whole life in Sherwood, Marion can fish, forage and navigate the dense forest in darkness. And she may be Robin’s best friend, but she thinks town kids like him are soft and will knock the young hero off his perch whenever his head gets too big.

WILL SCARLOCK - The Mentor

While Robin’s dad languishes in Pelican Island prison, Will Scarlock becomes Robin’s mentor.

Based in an abandoned outlet mall and trained as an engineer, Scarlock devotes his life to helping forest people and refugees. Setting up schools, clinics, solar power and clean water.

Robin and Marion appreciate Scarlock’s skills, especially when Netflix goes down. But they’re less keen when he makes them do chores, or study for exams!

LITTLE JOHN - The Big Brother

Sixteen-year-old John Hood doesn’t have much in common with his brother Robin. They tease and scrap, but like most siblings they’ll stick up for each other if an outsider comes after them.

The brothers are drawn close when their father is framed for robbery and they’re forced to escape into Sherwood Forest. But while Robin seeks adventure, a shocking revelation leads Little John into the heart of the enemy camp, leading a life of subterfuge and torn loyalties…
