CHERUB GRAPHIC NOVELS
GRAPHIC NOVELS
A TORTURED HISTORY...
CHERUB Graphic novels have a convoluted history!
Graphic novels are far more popular in France than in the UK and the CHERUB project began at the request of Robert's French publisher Casterman.
The Recruit graphic novel was produced by Robert's UK publisher and came out in 2012. It sold well and sequels were planned. Unfortunately the artist John Aggs was busy with other projects, so the sequel didn't happen.
Casterman remained keen, and now created their own project to adapt Class A, with a new team of David Combet and Baptiste Payen. Since this was a French production, these adaptations would start in French, and then be translated into English!
Class A was released in 2017, almost five years after The Recruit. Casterman have also produced a sequel based on Maximum Security. The bad news is Hachette Children's chose not to translate it into English. So for now, it looks like future CHERUB graphic novels will only be released in French.
